Controls Engineer

Our client is seeking a Controls Engineer in the Highalnd Park, MI area. This is a 2nd shift / evening position.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, program, and commission PLC-based control systems and automated manufacturing equipment.

  • Troubleshoot PLC, electrical, and equipment performance issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Develop and modify HMI applications using FactoryTalk and related platforms.

  • Perform I/O checkout, system testing, machine startup, commissioning, and fault-recovery testing.

  • Support and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs, including RSLogix 500/5000 and Studio 5000.

  • Work with industrial robotics, including FANUC and Universal Robots.

  • Support vision and error-proofing systems such as Keyence, Cognex, SICK, IFM, and Omron.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot safety PLCs, light curtains, area scanners, and other machine safety systems.

  • Support SCADA systems and industrial networks, including Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, IO-Link, and Point I/O.

  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics, functional specifications, work instructions, and other technical documentation.

Qualifications

  • Degree, diploma, certificate, or equivalent experience in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related discipline preferred.

  • 5+ years of controls, automation, or related manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLC programming and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with RSLogix 500/5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, PanelView, and HMI applications.

  • Strong understanding of ladder logic, I/O, electrical controls, motor controls, and industrial networking.

  • Experience with robotics, machine vision, SCADA, and automated manufacturing equipment is highly desirable.

  • Ability to read electrical schematics and other technical documentation.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work overtime as required.
